Overview
Bhutan remains the world’s most pristine kingdom — a country so careful about its heritage that it charges a Sustainable Development Fee (USD 100/day as of 2024) rather than competing for mass tourism. The result is extraordinary: forests cover 72% of the country, dzong fortresses dominate every valley, traditional dress is mandatory in public buildings, and the national development metric is Gross National Happiness. Our 8-day cultural tour covers the Paro Valley (Tiger’s Nest Monastery — the defining image of Bhutan), Thimphu (the only capital in the world without traffic lights), and Punakha (the most dramatic dzong in the kingdom, at the confluence of two rivers).
Bhutan Entry Requirements: All visitors require a Bhutan Tourist Visa and must book through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. The Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) is USD 100/day per person (not included in tour price — payable to Royal Government of Bhutan). We arrange all visas through our Thimphu partner agency.
