Overview
The Gokyo Lakes Trek is the quieter, more scenic alternative to the classic Everest Base Camp route. It climbs into the Gokyo Valley, a cluster of six sacred glacial lakes sitting above 4,700m, and finishes with a climb up Gokyo Ri (5,357m), where Everest (8,849m), Cho Oyu (8,188m), Lhotse (8,516m) and Makalu (8,481m) all sit in one frame. The trail carries a fraction of the EBC route’s traffic, so the villages, lodges and lake shores feel far less crowded.
