Gokyo Lake Trek

The Gokyo Lakes Trek is the quieter alternative to Everest Base Camp, trading crowded trails for a chain of six turquoise glacial lakes and a summit morning on Gokyo Ri, where Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu all sit in view at once. The route climbs the Gokyo Valley at a pace built around two proper acclimatisation days, then descends the same trail back through Dole and Namche to Lukla. Twelve days, one flight in and one flight out, and a trail that stays genuinely quiet the whole way.

One note on the new descent: since you’re now retracing the ascent route rather than looping back through Tengboche and Dingboche, the return-leg day narratives are close mirrors of the outbound ones (Dole, Namche again). If this goes into the brochure, it might be worth varying the descriptive language for those days, since the walking is genuinely different even on a repeat trail (all downhill momentum, less careful pacing, a different light on the peaks in the afternoon) so it shouldn’t just read as a rehash of days 5 and 6 backwards.
