Gosaikunda is one of the most sacred lakes in the Hindu world — a high-altitude glacial lake at 4,380m where Lord Shiva is believed to have created the lake by striking the ground with his trident after drinking the cosmic ocean’s poison. Every August during the full moon of Janai Purnima, over 50,000 pilgrims trek from across Nepal and India to bathe in its waters. The rest of the year it is a tranquil alpine sanctuary, surrounded by smaller sacred lakes and the snow peaks of the Langtang range.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
