UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE TOUR

After breakfast at the hotel, a full day of guided sightseeing covers three of the Kathmandu Valley's most significant heritage sites, accompanied throughout by a private vehicle and an English-speaking local guide. The day opens at Kathmandu Durbar Square, the ceremonial heart of the old Malla-era city, where the former Hanuman Dhoka royal palace complex sits surrounded by temples, courtyards, and carved wooden facades dating back centuries.
From there, the tour continues to Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temple complexes in the world, set on the banks of the Bagmati River. Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple itself, but the surrounding ghats, shrines, and cremation platforms offer a powerful and unfiltered look at daily Hindu ritual life. A local restaurant lunch follows before the afternoon visit to Patan Durbar Square, across the Bagmati in the city of Lalitpur, celebrated for its concentration of Newar metalwork, stone carving, and some of the valley's finest temple architecture.

After breakfast and check-out, the day begins with a visit to Swayambhunath, the hilltop stupa complex known to visitors as the Monkey Temple. Its whitewashed dome and painted eyes of the Buddha watching in all four directions are among the most recognisable images of the valley, and the climb to the top is rewarded with a sweeping panorama over Kathmandu.
From Swayambhunath, you drive out of the Kathmandu Valley to Nagarkot, a hill station roughly 32km east of the city and one of the best-known viewpoints for the Himalayan range, including Everest on a clear day. Lunch and dinner are taken at your three-star hotel in Nagarkot, where the evening is left free to enjoy the cooler air and the views as the light fades over the hills. Nagarkot is best known for its sunrise, and those willing to be up early can watch the first light strike the Himalayan skyline directly from the hotel grounds. Breakfast follows, after which the rest of the day is entirely free and can be shaped around your own interests.

Popular options include the hike from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan, a scenic trail that ends at one of the valley's oldest and most important Hindu temples, itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site; mountain biking on the surrounding trails; gentle nature walks and birdwatching in the forested hillside; and short visits to nearby Tamang villages to see rural life away from the tourist centres. Several hotels and lodges in the area also offer yoga and meditation sessions for those who prefer a quieter pace. Breakfast is served at your hotel, and while lunch and dinner are included as part of your full board package, you also have the option of dining at a nearby restaurant instead, at your own cost, for a change of scenery. A last opportunity for the Nagarkot sunrise, followed by breakfast and check-out from your hotel. The drive back toward Kathmandu breaks at Bhaktapur Durbar Square, widely considered the best-preserved of the valley's three royal squares and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in its own right. Its brick-paved courtyards, the 55-Window Palace, and the five-tiered Nyatapola Temple, Nepal's tallest pagoda, reflect the height of Newar craftsmanship. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant close to Nyatapola before continuing on to Kathmandu.
On arrival, you check in to your three-star hotel in Thamel, with time in the afternoon for last rounds of shopping. The evening closes with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant in Thamel, accompanied by a Nepali cultural dance performance, a fitting send-off before your final day. After breakfast, the morning is free for any last-minute shopping in Thamel. You then check out and are transferred by private vehicle to Tribhuvan International Airport in good time for your international departure, bringing the tour to a close.
