Overview
Tilicho Lake, at 4,919m, holds the Guinness World Record as the highest lake in the world. The trail to reach it branches from the Annapurna Circuit near Manang, traversing unstable scree slopes and a notoriously exposed traverse — requiring a guide — to arrive at a vast turquoise body of water enclosed by the 7,000m peaks of Tilicho, Khangsar, and Nilgiri. The reflected colours at sunrise are among Nepal’s most striking natural sights.
