Overview

Island Peak (Imja Tse, 6,189m) is Nepal’s most climbed trekking peak and one of the finest mountain objectives in the Himalaya for non-technical climbers. Named by Eric Shipton’s 1952 Everest reconnaissance team because it appeared as an island in a sea of ice, the peak offers a genuine high-altitude mountaineering experience that sits perfectly above the Everest Base Camp trail. The summit grants a once-in-a-lifetime view: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, and the Khumbu Icefall all visible simultaneously from the narrow ridge.

Our 18-day programme includes the full Everest Base Camp acclimatisation trek before the summit push, plus two days of pre-climb training (crampons, ice axe arrest, rope technique) at Island Peak Base Camp. Prior high-altitude trekking experience (above 4,500m) required. No prior climbing experience necessary — our certified UIAA mountain guides handle all technical training.
